so fierce.

I had the opportunity to interview Christian Siriano last weekend. It was so fun and a great interview! He is just as fierce in person as he is on the glossy pages of magazines. His new book, Fierce Style is a total laugh and light-hearted read. Check it out to cheer you up on these blah fall/winter days. And pick up the December issue of Twin Cities Statement to read my article!

its going to be a good spring…

Jean Paul Gaultier for Target and a JC Penny line by MK&A?! Seriously?!

First off, I hope JPG for Target is every bit as extravagant as his RTW, you know, just with cheaper fabrics. If he could swing a cone bra for the masses, you could count me a happy girl. I am SO excited to see this line. Target is doing a phenomenal job of pulling in top designers. I would take a job in designer relations in a heart beat. [Christian Siriano told me in my interview that he was working on doing" really, really commercial sellable lines"...does this mean Target has snatched him up also?]

News hit last week that Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen would be designing a line for JC Penny, Olsenboye. ECSTATIC. I am crossing my fingers that this is just going to be a cheap version of all of the phenomenal pieces from The Row. Please, pretty please. Never did I think I would be excited to shop at JCP.

And to top it all off, the J.Crew spring collection was previewed for editors last week. I am not afraid to admit my love for J.Crew, but it is the styling that I am really in love with. It has never happened that I come out of J.Crew with a new purchase and end up looking anything like the perfectly styled mannequins and catalog girls. I suppose if I could afford to buy an entire look, I would be more model-esque. Until then, I will drool over their simple, layered looks with perfect short-shorts and dream of a plump checking account to make my dreams a reality.

all i want for christmas is rodarte.

The latest photos of the Rodarte for Target collection are making me giddy. There is nothing I want more than the entire collection under my Karl Lagerfeld topped Christmas tree this year. (How perfect that the collection launches Dec. 20!) Nitrolicious.com posted photos from the editor’s preview that took place in August and I am in LOVE. I want nothing more than a lace cardigan, lace cocktail dress, leopard coat and lacy bra with matching high waisted lace tights, bow belts and leather gloves… I must have it ALL. See for yourself:

fashion crush: rochas s/s 2010

I have to admit that I have been a horrible fashion week follower this season. But today, I spent some quality class time checking out collections from Paris and Milan. I am madly in love with the Rochas collection for spring/summer by Marco Zanini. The colors, rich fabrics and floral details are enough to make any girl swoon and wish it was spring everyday. Here are some of my favorites!

I am also STILL in the process of catching up on all of my favorites from NYFW that I didn’t get a chance to see, and I will pick some favorite looks! Until then, the only thing keeping me sane in Minneapolis is my jade nail polish.

and then there was bill.

How in the world did I forget to mention the best moment of my FNO?! Outside of Bergdorf’s we were walking to dinner and who is on the corner in his blue members jacket, taking a million photos a minute? BILL CUNNINGHAM. For those of you who live in NYC on a full-time basis, you probably see him everywhere. For those of us, namely moi, who only get their Bill fix on nytimes.com- this was really exciting! He was crazily taking photos as a huge gust of wind blew down Fifth Avenue, making girls scream and hair go wild. After the calm, I managed to snap my own picture of Bill and let him know how big of a fan I am of his work! It was one of my many highlights in the city!

quick update.

As you may, or may not know, I am still in New York City and enjoying every single second of fashion week! Check out my reviews of the collections for The Fashion List.

I survived Fashion’s Night Out- but just barely! I did happen to score the Chanel Jade polish at the Spring Street store before heading to my last show for the day. We then went to Le Labo- for a free “discovery” sized fragrance, I picked Iris.

Had a drink at Unis and popped into Eleven. Headed uptown to Prada, where I spotted Grace Coddington greeting a crowd of fashionistas. The store had been transformed to resemble Coddington’s Little Red Riding Hood spread from the September 2009 issue of Vogue. We then walked down to Bergdorf Goodman–where the line was INSANE to catch a glimpse of Isaac Mizrahi singing cabaret! Spotted at BG was Andre Leon Talley and Robert Verdi. Back to Prada from some champagne and more admiring of the beautiful fall collection. Bendel’s was out of drinks by 10 p.m. (early, I know, but it was a long day!) and that is where my night ended. The streets of New York City were so crazy- lets hope the night was also a success sale-wise! Shop for good!

More tomorrow about the thrill of the tents!

great find: the street vendor two-finger ring

I have practiced a great deal of self control while walking around Soho this summer. I have resisted (up until now) the desire to buy some fun jewelry from a street vendor. While many of the stands feature the same big flowered rings and feathered headbands, I found a great two-finger wire ring with stones on Sunday while strolling down Broadway. It was love at first sight really. And I wanted to buy enough to cover all of my fingers and toes. Instead, I bought just one and I am in love with it. I went with the green because it reminded me of the jade jewels we all saw and drooled over on the Chanel runways in February.

My horrible memory is making it difficult for me to tell you where the little stand was on Broadway, but I can tell you that it was between Victoria’s Secret and CB2. Which I know is not helpful really, and I don’t even know if the people are in the same spot each week (except on Prince Street, because I have visited another ring stand over there more than once ). Search it out, its worth it.
